Manchester Pest control – A Review on Pest Control in 2011

Manchester Pest Control have seen a lively start in 2011 which is somewhat surprising given the very cold winter of 20010/1.

Manchester Pest Control Pest and vermin operatives were kept busy with the usual town centre rodent problems all thoughout the winter of course, but the relatively cold early part of the year has already seen some ant calls reported.

The damp summers of 2009 and 2010 were not to the taste of the hymenoptera (wasps, bees and ants) but 2010 looks like it will turn out to be a busy year for ant callouts.

Usually ants nest under the floors of homes and inside cavity walls causing a large number of foraging ants to enter kitchens and food cupboards.

However it is at the annual mating time when they can be most troublesome as they create winged males and queens which then mate in flight.

The emergence of many thousands of these flying ants inside your house can be horrific indeed.

A somewhat new pest was very troublesome in the Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire area last season, the Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci).

It was rare for pest controllers in the North West to come across these pests until recently but they seemed to appear from nowhere in 2008 and already this year has seen reports of these beetles in substantial numbers.

These insects have a similar life cycle to moths their larvae, called woolly bears devour natural fibres and can do great damage to carpets and all fabrics. They are a difficult and persistent pest to remove.

Manchester Pest Control state that bed bugs are continuing their renaissance in the Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire area, often arriving as stowaways in the suitcases of home-coming holiday makers.

Often the first reaction of unfortunates who realise that they are infested with these horrific,blood-sucking insects is to burn the old beds and buy new.

This is an expensive mistake as despite their name bed bugs not only hide in beds and in an infested room will be found anywhere within up to fifteen feet of the bed, in cupboards, drawers etc, even in electrical wall sockets and the new beds are quickly re-infested.

A lot of people confuse bed bugs with dust mites which are not visible to the naked eye.

They dine solely on blood which they take from their sleeping hosts. People usually associate bed bugs with insanitary conditions but nothing could be less true, they do not require squalor, they eat you!

Up to the end of May 2011 Harrier & Manchester Pest Control are offering a twenty-five percent reduction on their guaranteed ant treatment.

This revolutionary new treatment which is guaranteed for three years, extendable indefinitely in additional three year chunks by a simple re-treatment every three years, can be carried out on most houses subject to free site survey

For the summer of 2011 Harrier Pest Control are guaranteeing a fixed price for destroying wasps nests in the Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire area of just thirty two pounds.
