If any of the following apply to you and your spouse, you may not file a Form 1040 EZ:

Your income exceeds $100,000
You have dependents
You are claiming itemized or individual deductions or credit

This form is ideal for singles or married couples that do not own a home, do not need to claim education credits, and do not plan to claim any children as dependents. If you would benefit from itemizing your deductions or have credits you qualify for, then Form 1040 EZ would not be a good choice.

If your tax situation is as simple as your income with no deductions or credits to claim, Form 1040EZ would be the best choice for you.
