Few things to consider before doing house-painting

A house not painted on either the outside or inside cannot be called finished or last long. Wooden houses have a propensity to look one dimensional without paint and so are concete-made houses.

A house painted in and out properly is a part of a home improvement’s decorative aspect. Home decoration isn’t just draping curtains, positioning furniture and topping them with collectibles. House painting not only grants the house its luster but also guards it from the elements that makes a house last longer.

Some assume that painting a part or the whole of their house is no more than superficial and just for show. The actuality is that painting a house would more than prolong its existence and more importantly, the people living within.

A skillfully painted house will reflect the owner’s sense of style and taste. Doing house painting from each side and corner might be a handful for just one person but the rewards and satisfaction once it is finished is definitely worth it. It is even better to take small steps at a time to get a much better paint job.

If you are planning to paint or renovate walls or ceiling, you may want to consider doing some important steps to avoid any minor or big messes related with paint.

Evacuate or cover furniture and appliances

A person who values his furnishings should protect his furniture from being accidentally whisked by paint droplets. Movable things that are usually placed next to walls should be moved to a different area or any vacant place within the house. If furniture are too heavy o too cumbersome to be moved out of the room, the next best method to keep them from being splattered on with paint is to cover or wrap them. The usual way to shield furniture from paint is by wrapping them in old newspaper. If you’re a devoted recycler and have given all your newspapers away, you can use cloths, big-sized plastic covers or tarpaulins to cover them. These are accessible in your local hardware stores.

Floors

Every stroke of the paintbrush may potentially paint your hardwood or marble floors adjoined to the wall you’re painting. Gravity would also play a role in paint droplets reaching the floor. Covering your floors with newspaper, plastic or cloth is an easy and economical precaution.

Paint

Before starting to paint any portion inside your home, visualize how it would look and how it would blend to your floor, ceiling and furniture. One more valuable factor to think about is the type of paint you will use. Make sure you choose a non-lead based paint especially if it is meant for children’s rooms. Non toxic paints such as organic and zero VOC paints are now common among paint manufacturers.

If droplets of paints are still able to land on things they’re not supposed to land on, you can take away these by applying paint strippers. The right kind of paint strippers to use must also be non-toxic ones which is more health and environmentally pleasant. Movable things that was accidentally covered in paint at some stage in the process, however, there are specially-made paint strippers for furniture obtainable on your local hardware depot.
